What makes a gym private
A commercial gym sells access to a room and lets anyone in. A private studio sells coaching and controls who is on the floor. At Mission Gym that means:
- By appointment. Coached sessions are booked, so the room is never packed.
- One-on-one only. No classes, no group sessions, no class timetable.
- No queue. You will not wait for a rack or work in with a stranger.
- No audience. If you are learning a lift for the first time, nobody is watching but your coach.
Private studio vs commercial gym vs group studio
| Private studio | Commercial gym | Group studio | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who is on the floor | You and your coach | Anyone with a membership | A full class |
| Who writes the program | Your coach, for you | You, or a package trainer | Head office, for the room |
| Same coach every time | Yes | Often not | Whoever is teaching |
| Nutrition | Part of the coaching | Usually extra or none | Usually none |
| Best for | Results with a coach | Self-directed training | Group energy |
None of these is the wrong choice for everyone. A commercial gym is the right call if you already know what to do. A group studio is great if the room is what gets you there. A private studio is for people who want the coaching itself.
24/7 access, included
Every in-person coaching package includes a gym membership with 24/7 access to the private studio. You train your coached sessions with a coach and use the same floor on your own schedule in between, at whatever hour fits your week.
To be clear: Mission Gym is not a public 24 hour gym. The 24/7 access is for members and clients, and it comes with coaching. If you are not a client yet, start with the free assessment so a coach is there to meet you.
Who a private floor helps most
- Beginners who would rather learn without an audience. Most of our clients had never trained properly before they walked in.
- People training around an injury, who need someone paying attention to every rep.
- Busy professionals who cannot afford to wait twenty minutes for a bench.
- Anyone done with crowded gyms and the self-consciousness that comes with them.
