What a coach in the room gives you
Online coaching can write a great program. What it cannot do is stand next to you while you run it. In person, the coaching happens during the set, not after it:
- Form fixed on the rep, not two days later from a video. A cue at the bottom of a squat changes that rep and the next one.
- Load chosen on the spot. Your coach sees the bar slow down and decides whether the next set goes up, stays, or comes down.
- An appointment you keep. A session booked with a person waiting for you is much harder to skip than a workout in an app.
- A safe way to learn. New lifts, heavier weights and training around an injury all go better with someone watching.
- A room that is set up for it. At Mission Gym that is a private floor: no crowd, no queue for a rack, no audience.
What online does better
Online coaching is not a lesser version, it is a different tool. It costs less per month, it works anywhere, and it fits around travel and odd schedules. If you already know how to squat, hinge, press and pull with good form, and the thing that has been missing is a plan, nutrition and someone checking in, online gives you most of the benefit for less money and less time.
That is why we offer it. Our online coaching includes a custom program for your equipment, a personalized meal plan, weekly video check-ins and coach access 7 days a week.
What each costs
| In person | Online | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical market price | About $60 to $90 a session at a chain gym around Fort Lauderdale, plus membership | About $30 to $200 a month |
| Coach watching your reps | Every session | On video, after the fact |
| Best for | Beginners, injuries, people who need the appointment | Confident lifters who need structure |
Those are typical ranges for other gyms and formats, not our prices. Mission Gym does not publish prices: in person, coaching is all-inclusive with the gym membership, 24/7 access, nutrition and the app, and it depends on whether you train 2 to 5 times a week. The cost guide has the full comparison.
How to decide
Answer these honestly:
- Have you trained with good form before? If not, start in person.
- Are you working around an injury or a health condition? In person, so someone sees every rep.
- Have you started and stopped before? The appointment is often what was missing. In person.
- Can you get to the studio two or three times a week? If not, online is the realistic choice, and a realistic plan beats an ideal one.
- Do you already train and mostly need a plan and accountability? Online will probably do it.
Not sure? Book the free in-person assessment. You will leave with a straight answer, including if online is the better fit.
